Three siblings reflect on their simple rural upbringing in the early 1900's. Such aspects of daily living as farming, school, play, religion, work, family and community are recounted. The full length piece discusses the slaughter of animals, baptisms in the rivier, living with out electricity and much more. This piece was distributed to young family members and their children who are growing up in the "city"...so far from the experience of their elders and in fact from the conditions that influenced and upon which were built the attitudes and ways of their elders, the subjects of this piece. |
What Does it Mean to Create a LifeWorks Video?
Creating
Creating a LifeWorks video is an opportunity to reflect, appreciate, celebrate and share you,
your life and the stories which comprise it.
A Gift to Yourself
While the end product of the process is a gift to selected loved ones, the experience of
co-creating your LifeWorks video is a gift to yourself.
My Role
My role will be guiding you through an honoring, commemorative, healing experience of your life
and who you are.
Together
Together we will explore why you are interested in participating in this adventure,
and whom you are making your LifeWorks video for. Your intent may be so others may
know and remember you. Perhaps there is family history only you know, that you want
to be sure gets passed down. Sometimes there are words you’ve never spoken, or relationships
not yet mended, for which time is now of the essence. Imagine how meaningful it would be to “personally”
let loved ones know your wishes concerning personal possessions, advance directives, and
funeral arrangements. The themes are endless and unique to you.
The Result
The result of our association is your LifeWorks video tape, complete with section titles, meaningful
visual additions and selected music. Copies of your tape will be created for you, enabling you to deliver them
to those you have selected to be recipients of your priceless gift.

Why create a LifeWorks Videos for myself or my loved one?
Wondering why people want to do this and why it's important? Here is a short piece that addresses these very issues!
What happy clients and recipients are saying
Working with LifeWorks was a profound and affirming experience. Robin is an exceptionally gifted listener. I felt that she really cared about my story and was able to understand and feel the significance of what I was sharing. Her ability to be completely present with me during the interviews allowed me to open up and share deeply and authentically. I felt heard and honored and the video came out amazingly well. I am so happy to have this testament to my life story and I look forward to sharing it with the people I love.
Katherine Glickler
My husband and I were having a conversation with a friend when he received a call from Robin Gate, a videographer who had filmed his life story. He described the experience in the most positive terms and expressed delight with the finished product.
I thought how I would love to have a video of my 95 year-old father. He gave me Robin's "LifeWorks" business card, and I called her as soon as I returned home.
Our friend had spoken of Robin as one of the nicest people you would ever want to meet, and throughout the process I found that to be true. She gave me guidance in the preparatory work that needed to be done before the actual video taping. When she arrived at my father's home, she was gracious and unhurried. Throughout the taping, her promptings kept my father's stories flowing.
Now that the interview was over, I eagerly awaited the arrival of the DVDs in my mailbox. When they came, I was so excited as I tore into the package and inserted the first one into my player. What I saw exceeded my expectations. It was a work of art from beginning to end.
Thank you, Robin, for a beautiful job!

Doing a LifeWorks Video with Robin Gate was a very satisfying experience. The preparation before hand through her questionnaire was very thorough and helpful. In the actual filming, she put me at ease and made suggestions for including items which I overlooked. Following the filming, she skillfully edited the tape and added appropriate music background. All together, it made for a professional product which I am sure my children, and possibly others such as my grandchildren, will appreciate and enjoy for years to come.

I've got tears in my eyes. It's very meaningful and touching. It's the best thing I ever did in my life. It's going to mean a lot to my family. It gives me peace of mind that if I kick the bucket tomorrow, It'll be okay.
You're doing something that's a blessing and if people open their heart and let what you're doing in, it can be the biggest blessing to them. To be alive and to have this is the most precious gift.
You just did a bang up job. It touched my heart like nothing ever has.

My name is Drew Bird, and I am a designer from LA. I recently hired the expertise of Robin Rainbow Gate to video tape an interview for my portfolio. Not only was she prompt, but showed a level of proficiency I have not experienced in a while. She make me feel comfortable and welcome in front of the camera with her positive attitude, and had valid, knowledgeable comments and suggestions. She really knew how to get good coverage, and even though I felt confident she insisted to get a few more takes and cut aways just in case, to have choices. I am so glad to have found her, she made my project a dream come true.
Drew Bird with Hatmosphere
Wow. We just viewed ourselves as we are and as we were. And it was quite a revelation, to see ourselves as we did. We think you did a masterful job.
